The Water Quality and Health Council is an independent,
multidisciplinary group sponsored by the Chlorine Chemistry Council. Its mission is to promote science based practices and policies to enhance water quality and health by advising industry, health professionals, policy makers and the public.
 

Linda F. Golodner
President, National Consumers League

Linda Golodner was appointed Executive Director of the National Consumers League in 1985, and elected President in 1991.Linda Golodner was appointed Executive Director of the National Consumers League in 1985, and elected President in 1991. The National Consumers League is the nation's pioneer consumer organization, founded in 1899, to bring consumer power to bear on marketplace and workplace issues. Priority programs for the League are food and drug safety, health care reform, fair labor standards, telecommunications, financial services, environmental issues, and consumer fraud.

In addition to serving as president of the League, Golodner chairs the National Council on Patient Information and Education and serves on the executive boards of the National Patient Safety Foundation, the Conference for Food Protection, and the Board of Directors of the American National Standards Institute and the AFL-CIO Union Community Fund. She chairs the Alliance to Protect Electricity Consumers and the Alliance Against Fraud in Telemarketing and Electronic Commerce, a coalition of more than 90 groups organized to combat fraud through combined efforts and education. In addition, she co-chairs the Verizon Consumer Advisory Board and chairs the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association Consumer Advisory Council. Golodner co-chairs the Child Labor Coalition, which is concerned with international and domestic exploitation of children in the workplace, and is a member of the Department of the Treasury Advisory Committee on International Child Labor. She co-chaired the White House Apparel Industry Partnership and serves on the Board of Directors of the Fair Labor Association. She received the American Pharmaceutical Association's Hugo H. Schaefer Award in 1997. She was also honored in 1997 by the United Nations Association (NCA) for her work in human rights. The American Council on Consumer Interests presented her with the 1999 "Friend of Consumers Award" in recognition of her outstanding contributions to policies that promote consumers' interests nationally and internationally.

Before coming to the League in 1983, Golodner was president of her own public affairs firm, representing nonprofit institutions, associations, and political organizations. She also worked for the U.S. House of Representatives on the staff of former Congressman James G. O'Hara of Michigan. Golodner is a former commissioner and chair of the Fairfax County Commission for Women. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1975.
